Luxurious Interiors

With so much emphasis on sleek modern spaces, it's nice to enjoy a little extravagant inspiration from time to time. The two homes explored below share many features with neoclassical design, an elegant and intricate style that appeared in the mid-1700s and retained its popularity until the early 1800s. Neoclassicism arose in direct response to the perceived busyness and frivolity of the rococo style – making it the minimalism of its time. Neoclassicism was a revival of Greek Classicism, and interestingly enough, Art Deco was too – both styles share roots despite having opposite intentions.

Luxury Villa in Qatar

When looking at this opulent, breathtaking Villa, visualized by architect Muhammad Taher, it is nearly inconceivable that it could be located in Qatar, the once poorest among all the Arab states. It stands as a testament to Qatar's now immense wealth and rise to be the richest among its fellow states. The Villa is accessed by way of the grand entry with its soaring domed ceiling and sensuously curving staircase.

5 Luxurious Interiors Inspired by Louis-Era French Design

"Louis period styles" is a collective term for French design trends spanning between 1600 and 1790, encompassing the transition from Baroque to Neoclassicism. Royal families were the de-facto tastemakers of the time - and in this case, those tastemakers were Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, and their fashionable queens and mistresses such as Marie Antoinette and Madame Pompadour. While ornate styles have been replaced by clean minimalism today, these fabulous visualizations offer a rare glimpse of French palatial decadence translated to lighter modern-day interiors.

Art Deco met Murano

Art Deco first appeared in France just before World War I and began flourishing internationally in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s before its popularity waned after World War II. The style is often characterized by rich colours, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation. Art Deco was a globally popular style and affected many areas of design. It was used widely in consumer products such as automobiles, furniture, cookware, china, textiles, jewelry, clocks, and electronic items such as radios, telephones, and jukeboxes. It also influenced architecture, interior design, industrial design, fashion, graphic arts, and cinema.

Blue Mountain Pottery Collection

Blue Mountain Pottery was Canada's largest manufacturer of quality giftware pottery from 1947 until the plant closed for good December 2004. Located in Collingwood, Ontario, the uniqueness of Blue Mountain Pottery is a combination of the rich red clay, used in the moulding of the items, and the special glazing used to create the various shades of colour called "Reflowing Decorating". Collecting Blue Mountain Pottery is still popular by many and, as time goes on, will become much more difficult to find in perfect condition. All pieces that had a closed base had one of a variety of BMP mould marks. For items that had no base including most of the bird and animal items, they were sold with stickers or tags, many long since lost.
